Srirangapatna (Srirangapatnam) is located on the eponymous island bend of the river Cauvery, 15 km north of Mysore and 140 km from Bangalore, and is a historical place.Srirangapatna is named in honor of a revered temple vishnuitskogo Shriranganatha swami (Sriranganathaswamy) and was a major Hindu pilgrimage center. In 1454 the rulers of the empire Vidzhayanaga built a fort here, in 1616 the city became the capital of the Mysore rulers Vadiyar. You can reach there by the Buses from Thirupathi. In 1761, Muslims under the leadership of Haider Ali defeated Vidiyarov. Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan created on the basis of the tiny principality Mysore strong state.
