In 1454 the rulers of the empire Vidzhayanaga built a fort here, in 1616 the city became the capital of the Mysore rulers Vadiyar. You can reach there by the Buses from Thirupathi. In 1761, Muslims under the leadership of Haider Ali defeated Vidiyarov. Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan created on the basis of the tiny principality Mysore strong state.
