How can a back injury hurt so much?

5:20 pm Health

Think of your backbone or spine as the main nerve trunk running from your skull to your hips then you can see how harmful a back injury can be to your entire system.

In your spine are 33 bones which form a column.  Within this column there are nerve tissues which are protected by the spinal boney tissue (vertebrae).  This tissue is made up of disk shaped sections which are called disks.  If the back received an injury,  the disk or disks in that particular area will become herniated and press inward against the nerves they protect.  When this occurs, the pain will radiate down through the large nerve and sometimes cause lack of feeling or sensation in that area as well.
