An Icd9 Cpt Code

I was in the doctors office the other talking about insurance and was trying to figure out insurance companies know what procedures are being done when terminology can be so different. He then had me take a look at different icd9 cpt codes. He was able to show me that when a procedure is being done a code is assigned that is universal. This not only helps insurance companies know what cost should be, but it helps different hospitals talk to each other.
